Failure of the West in Afghanistan.

Putin's words that the west considerably did a mistake by involving themselves in Afghanistan has found echo in many leaders including Pope Francis who quoted him to criticise west's involvement in Afghanistan. 

Pope Francise might have thought that he was quoting Merkel but still the message was communicated that imposing one's values on others will not work in the long run. USA has completed its exit after August 31st.  Russia has indicated willingness to talk with Taliban despite not recognizing them officially. 

Putin understands that dialogue is necessary. Russia has also said that left to Russia,Pakistan,China and India, the situation in Afghanistan can be better handled. Russia said that Eurasian countries can solve their problems without west involvement. After Vietnam, Afghanistan is going to be USA's latest tragedy. 

Putin has also warned against freezing of Afghanistan's foreign reserves. Russia said that if the west does not defreeze afghanistan assets, they might be forced to export more opium.USA has frozen taliban's access to those accounts in USA which had money from aghanistan's national reserves. IMF has also blocked taliban's accesss to emergency reserve funds. 

Putin said that for 20 years, US forces in their 20 years stay tried to instill their values and standards. The trillions of dollars spent by USA in its 20 years of intervention in Afghanistan hs entirely gone waste. The lives lost are much lower than those lost in Vietnam but the cost involved is much higher than vietnam and iraq, 

This was after Russia took the decision to withdraw from afghanistan after a decade. The strife and terrorism which started as a counter project against soviet rule continued against american rule. Now Talibans have taken over but will they offer stable government with their diverse factions is the moot question. 

Russia is closely watching the situation and has strengthened its military bose in Tajikistan which borders Afghanistan. USA paid heavily for maintaining a huge contingent in Aghanistan, for construction purposes in the country. 

USA's exit is a realization of its weakening power. The Civil Strife in Afghanistan will continue for a long time, with some groups sponsored by foreign powers to keep the tension alive. 

The ones who will suffer are the ones who supported USA's intervention for past two decades. Many of them are trying to flee the country. USA cannot take all of them to other countries.
