Divorces increasing rapidly in Relationships

Everyone agrees that marriages need to be saved but divorce rates are increasing at a larger percentage than yester generation. Technology has invaded every aspect of relationships and is largely behind the current wave of discords in relations.

It is more apparent in educated couples especially those who are both working. Men are men, women are women. Both want their own space. Increasing proximity with collegues in office due to longer working hrs is also adding to complexity in relationships. Some are feeling more comfort with office staff&friends than at home. 

It also does not help that the female is still expected to handle cooking, bringing up children and is responsible for the child's academic success. The male expects to be responsible only for bringing in the salary and does not partake of family responsibilities still in the house. This makes the female more stressed in having to match dual responsibilities. Some youth are cooperating with each other in family responsibilities especially in the U.S where everyone shares responsibilities and there are no maid servants at home. There are less divorces among NRIs in USA than couples in India. 

Stress of joint family acts on the couple as well. Daily Chats with families does not enable the young couple to take own decisions. The egos of parents as well keep adding into the couple's relationship. These small things explode over a period of time. 

Celebrity marriages are more so because individual achievers honestly do not find happiness in marriage. The Movie Abhimaan where successful singer wife is forced to give up her entire career to satisfy a husband whose career has not picked up repeats in several households across the globe. Differences do erupt in working couples lives.

In India, several celebrities have filed for divorces. They have been escaping all these years by spending only weekends but lockdown forced families to be together. Work from Home is proving to be a disaster for such couples. There is no space left for each other. Infidelity which could be possible in workplace also became hard for some. Reality started setting in and the intolerances and differences all came out. 

Celebrity divorces are also expensive affairs. Lockdown forced families together. While it increased bonding with children, it increased friction between discording couples. Some remain in denial of the hollowness of their relationship only to save a pretentious marriage. One needs to make peace with oneself first.
