The Cholas are back-Ponniyin Selvan 2.

After a wait of several months, I was so excited to watch Ponniyin Selvan-2 in the Theatre. It is magnificent and has very high values built into the movie. Based on Kalki’s story, the script is known to most tamilians yet seeing it on the screen was so exhilarating. 

Every scene was well captured. Unlike Bahubali, this is a true story and a historical fact. That makes us watch this movie very proudly. This is not a luxury, but a journey into our roots. The culture that we so much cherish in tamilnadu today has been built by Cholas. In fact, even in my state, most of the siva temples that are 1000 years or more old mostly have been built by the Cholas. They have made so much contribution to history and it is said that we read nothing about them in school as much as we read about Moghuls.

Ponniyin Selvan movie is our gift to the next generation. The team unit has made them wonder who Raja Raja Chola is. My daughter is now reading about him in the comic after seeing the movie and asking me. My favourite character since childhood in this movie is Kundavai. This cannot and should not stop. It is a long due responsibility which Suhasini,Maniratnam,Vikram,Jayam Ravi,Karthi,Trisha,Prakash Raj and Aishwarya Rai have fulfilled to South India. Generations after them all will remember this masterpiece. 

This should be taken to international festivals. When the last emperor could win awards, why not PS-2 and especially,this is a true story.In Andhra, the team unit did not do much campaigning. They should have spent some time in marketing the facts about cholas since not many know about them.It would have made the movie more interesting .
