Drug Addiction increasing in Youth

Across the country, drug addiction among youth has become commonplace, especially in high-net-worth families where rave parties with drugs are regularly happening. Rave parties with music alone are always fine with families, but parents get concerned with parties where rampant drug usage occurs. Many celebrity scions rampantly use drugs.
Several investigations have revealed that some Bollywood stars consume and deal in drugs on a regular basis. MDM, cocaine, LSD, CBD oil, and weed are becoming common in high-net-worth family parties where celebrities and politicians together converge and inject lethal drugs. Not just in Bollywood, investigations into tollywood celebrity parties have also found rampant usage of drugs in some cases. The recent seizure of 20,000 crores of drugs from Afghanistan at Adani Port has made headlines.Investgation officers have said traffickers are sourcing narcotics from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and Nagaland. Surveys show that nearly 75 percent of Punjab's youth are hooked on drugs. There are around 500 drug deaddiction centres in Indai.
Telangana Excise officials have busted a drug racket which supplied high-end drugs like LSD and MDMA to celebrities, students, and corporates. Several film personalities were interrogated when their names came out during the investigation into the death of Calvin Mascarenhas. Sanjay Dutt was arrested in 1982 on drug consumption charges and was jailed for 5 months. Several other Bollywood personalities have been associated with drugs. Actress Madhavi Latha claimed that in tollywood, no party is complete without narcotics usage. Ravi Teja's brothers were caught red handed with drugs a decade back. Many young people, for want of cash, are becoming willing accomplices in the spread of drugs. Once addicted, young people find it hard to go out without them.
A recent AIIMS report noted that Uttar Pradesh, followed by Punjab, Sikkim, Chattisgarh, and Delhi, has the highest number of cannabis users. The north eastern states are also high in opioid usage. Lockdown had reduced drug usage because college students were sitting at home, not getting out anywhere, but now parties are back and restrictions are being kept aside. The recent arrest of Aryan Khan at such a rave party has made headlines.
