Covid Lockdown-Poor Suffering
Homeless

21 Days Shutdown of India has entered its 4th day. Lockdown restrictions have been strict resulting in few people coming out. The government is trying its level best to make people understand the severity of the virus but some people keep violating the lockdown restrictions. There are others who do not deliberately violate. They do so with no choice.

India's lockdown? what does it mean to the poor and the homeless.

India's lockdown is a big problem for the poor and the homeless. They are wage labourers living on roads, working daily for some amount. Some dont even have a roof on their heads. What happens to them? Some governments have come forward to tak care of them and even shifted them to night shelters. Other governments are trying to arrange food packets but it is a humanitarian crisis.

Its not possible to feed every poor person during lockdown since due to police laws, they are dispersing instead of clustering like always. This is leading to volunteers and NGOs having to seek them out. moving them to areas like bus stands or railway stations will be helpful since there is avaialbility of water, toilets and shelter.

Natural Disasters arent new to India. India every yr has to face floods or strong winds and administration is well trained to operate large centers where evacuated residents are brought and given food and shelter. Indian govt must be thinking on those lines currently.
