Kirk Douglas Dead at 103

Kirk Douglas was born on December 9,1916 as Issur Danielovitch Demsky. He was one of the greatest stars of Hollywood. He died at 103 age recently. He was most credited for ending the Hollywood blacklist era. There was crackdown on left leaning film personnel denying them employment. Douglas defied the trend and worked with Dalton Trumbo for Spartacus.

Kirk Douglas faced a lot of other controversies like a rape charge, etc., but it was never proved. He is the father of reputed actor Michael Douglas. He lost another son Eric Douglas.  Many members from Douglas family joined in the family production “It runs in the family” in 2003.

Kirk received Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1981. He was a staunch Democrat. He was nominated thrice for Oscar but didn’t get it. He finally got a honorary Oscar in 1996. He also got lifetime achievement award from AFI.
