YSRCP Party has Transitioned into a complete Congress Party in Andhra Pradesh

In United Andhra Pradesh, both National Parties were in control of two dominant castes, the Reddy’s and the Kammas. Cong was always in control of Reddy Caste while TDP always was dominated by Kammas. Both parties had members from the other caste too. It was balanced in United Andhra Pradesh thus and never had any problems. Congress Party headed by Rajasekhar Reddy had many stalwarts from the Kamma Caste in the Congress Party. These leaders have been associated with Congress Party from decades. Hence both TDP & Cong always had leaders from both castes and were balanced.

With the partition of the state, most of the Reddy's in Telangana state went with BRS which now has again shifted back to Congress party in recent elections. In Telangana, Kammas have again backed Congress Party with TDP not participating in elections. In the residual Andhra Pradesh, the Krishna-Guntur Kamma belt, Godavari-Uttarandhra Kapu belt and Rayalseema Reddy belt have been decisive in government formation for quite a long time. Most Reddys sailed with Jagan Mohan Reddy while most Kammas rallied behind Chandrababu Naidu. There has been a consistent caste war exaggerated by caste media to the extent of reality in the past four years.  The Kammas in YSRCP felt uncomfortable when the entire Kamma caste consolidated behind the TDP in some incidents.  Media perception made it a caste rivalry adding to friction between the two castes.

Many polls had in fact given up on YSRCP making gains in the Krishna-Guntur area. But the entry of Kesineni Nani into YSRCP changes a lot of equations. It consolidates Kamma Support for the YSRCP party. With Avinash likely to win Vijayawada East, Vasant Krishna Prasad Mylavaram seat, Vamsi Gannavaram seat, Kodali Nani Gudivada seat and his own daughter probably getting penamaluru seat, it will ease Nani winning Vijayawada MP seat and strongly consolidate YSRCP’s Kamma base along with Sri Krishnadevarayulu, Brahmanaidu in Guntur district. This consolidation will upset TDP calculations for it wanted to consolidate Kamma base in Coastal Andhra behind it. This also fulfills the missing caste support which Jagan needed badly in the party. Nani's entry makes YSRCP now attaining the full nature of the Congress Party which was headed by his father in United Andhra Pradesh. It also rallies all the senior leaders behind him.

YSRCP already has strong Kapu leaders from Uttarandhra like Botsa Satyanarayana behind him from YSR time. YSRCP is currently weak in its calculations in Godavari districts where Pawan Kalyan factor is definitely going to make a difference. TDP-Janasena is expected to make substantial gains in this area. It needs to be seen how YSRCP will fair in this belt where Pawan Kalyan has strong mass base.

Many state governments have been lauding the decentralisation efforts of AP Government. There has been substantial development in the welfare side but at the huge cost of development. There were a lot of structures and traditions that needed to be dismantled and it takes time. Jagan is going in the right way especially with government schools adopting english medium and CBSE syllabus. In every major developed Nation, education is free for children. India has to move towards that goal sooner or later. YSRCP has started with improving the infrastructure of the schools. These are genuine developments. Jagan government has created a structure for the welfare state through Sachivalayams and the Volunteer System.

He has also focused on primary healthcare, a neglected area so far in state of andhra pradesh. When common ailments are being taken care of, the visits to the hospitals automatically decrease. Pension and ration delivery at home has reduced the time taken for people in queues. It is a huge relief. DBT has also reduced the hands of middlemen and eased the process of direct benefits to eligible participants. Everyone is getting the benefits directly without middlemen regardless of which party they are in.

The market has been long in the hands of middlemen. Dismantling these structures will take time. Hence he definitely needs a second chance to complete what he has started. He will get immense public support with this strong consolidation of the Kamma Leaders behind him. He will bring prosperity to the state hopefully with development too in the second term.
