MJCET Inaugurates Centre of Excellence in AI: A Vision Realized by Uma Desu and Prof. Uma Dulhare

In a bold step toward AI-driven academic transformation, Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology (MJCET) inaugurated its Centre of Excellence (COE) in Artificial Intelligence on March 20, 2025. This milestone marks the culmination of a strategic collaboration between Uma Desu, Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer of GenAIPioneer and a veteran with over 26 years of experience in the intelligence industry, and Prof. Uma Dulhare, the visionary Head of the AIML Department at MJCET.
Strategic Vision Turned into Reality
The journey began on January 6, 2025, when MJCET’s AIML Department signed an MoU with Uma Desu as part of their AI Implementation Plan submitted to AICTE, in alignment with the regulatory body’s December 21, 2024 directive to integrate basic and advanced AI across all engineering streams.
Recognizing the urgency to modernize academic programs to align with the oncoming AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) wave, Prof. Uma Dulhare swiftly acted on the strategic guidance of Uma Desu to establish a Centre of Excellence in AI that offers not just theoretical understanding, but hands-on, industry-aligned AI experiences.
Building Momentum: March 17–19 AI Training
To prepare students for this evolution, Uma Desu conducted a 3-day training program from March 17–19, 2025, specifically designed for first-year students of CSE and allied branches. The program focused on:
-
Prompt Engineering & Generative AI Foundations
-
Hands-on exploration of Large Language Models (LLMs)
-
Real-world AGI use cases and applications
Students received early exposure to market-relevant skills, paving the way for job-readiness in the AI economy.
COE Inauguration: A Symbol of Progress
The Centre was officially inaugurated on March 20, 2025, in the presence of:
-
Mr. Uma Desu, Chief AI Officer, GenAIPioneer
-
Mr. Mahipal Singh Rawat, Principal, MJCET
-
Mr. Hamraj, Dean of Academics
-
Prof. Uma Dulhare, HOD, AIML Department
This Centre will serve as a launchpad for AGI-enabled learning and innovation, fostering:
-
AI research aligned with industry challenges
-
Mentor-led real-time projects
-
AI & Quantum readiness for future engineers
“This is not just infrastructure—it’s India’s AGI launchpad,” said Uma Desu during the ceremony.
A Template for India’s Engineering Future
While many colleges are still preparing AI-readiness plans, MJCET has already executed theirs—a testament to proactive leadership and industry-academia collaboration.
This effort by Prof. Uma Dulhare and the GenAIPioneer team under Uma Desu’s mentorship sets a replicable model for institutions across India aiming to align with the AGI era.
