Human Values and Professional Ethics

Human Values and Professional Ethics is now a mandated course in colleges as part of the New Educational Policy which wants to instill value based education in college students to aid them in their professional life.
The Human Value system is directly a inheritance from the parents and the society in which they grow. The early years shape the child's DNA forever. The values that he learns in earlier years if they are reinforced in later education cycle stand steadfast as fulcrum as a base for Human response of individual which we fondly call personality.
The School too plays a important role instilling in the child the need to stick to the value system by systematically stressing the importance of such system through languages and social sciences. Both parents and teachers want the best for students so that the child has the right foundation to move towards his life goals when he crosses schooling.
Human values unlike fixed moral values are different in that they change perspective from person to person. The learning that we attain in school tells us about right and wrong but human values guide us to distinguish between right and wrong. Human Values corely focus on self awareness for the child. The child needs to be aware of his strengths and the society of which he is a part of. The more aware the child is of his own strengths, the easier these values remain steadfast to the child through career.
When the student moves out of college into a profession, professional ethics come into picture. Professional Ethics obviously derive from one's shared belief system. The Human Values of Love,Compassion, Gratitude, Acceptance & Health instills in the individual a passion to be not judgamental and when he does not judge,he accepts everyone and anyone who accepts all automatically becomes a good team player.
When working in a company, the individuial needs to stick to his core values when any situation arises where the person feels that the concerned event is not fitting his shared belief. At that moment, the choice to accept that situation unquestioningly or stick to ethics and resist pressure makes/breaks success for the individual. While it is definitely hard to move against the tide or against herd mentality, history is replete with examples that those who have done it have attained great heights by sticking to their Professional Ethics.
Those who consider their profession to be a service in which they participate for the greater human good of the society find their life fulfilling while others keep searching for meaning and purpose all their lives.A Person joins a profession not just to earn money but also keeping in mind his interest for that profession clearly indicating success drivers for those who work towards their life purpose through their profession. Every job then becomes a service to be performed. They remain happy in life.
