Chardham Piligrimage Season

Continuiing millennials of years tradition, Kedarnath Dham was opened on Akshaya Tritiya. The opening day has normally many visitors but due to Covid-19, there are no visitors this year.
Chardham contributes significantly to Uttarakhand economy, almost 10,000 cr+. This does not include the cost of arriving at the place from various places across the Nation. The Nation can recover fast if these Yatras are allowed. Pilgrimage tourism will overcome the loss in income due to lockdown.
Chardham is open for six months. Even if the season starts late, say from June 1st, there will be still 3 full months excluding the monsoon seasons. Monsoon seasons will still see locals traveling to the Chardham Area. The decision on the yatra will be taken soon after the lockdown.
Chardham is an important pilgrimage event for Hindus and is as important as Mecca travel for Muslims. Many do it once a lifetime, some do it multiple times but very few indians miss the Chardham Yatra.
Last years season had 50 lakh visitors visiting the shrine. Chardham Board expects the pilgrims to rise to 80 lakhs by 2023.
