5 Generations of Valiveti Family Reunite in Vijayawada

The Valivetis originate from Chinnaganjam, a sleepy hamlet known for its Salt Factories spanning the seashore. .Valiveti Venkatappaiah was a major figure in the Valiveti Families settled in Chinnaganjam. He had 5 children constituting the second generation,2 sons & three daughters. These 5 children bore 17 children in the 3rd generation,11 Grand Daughters and 6 Grandsons. They had 11 grand daughters and 6 sons. The 4th generation had 62 members and the 5th generation, 120 members. Valiveti Family thus has 350+ Members out of which 100+ attended this event.5 Generations of Valiveti Venkatappaiah decided to meet in Ibrahimpatnam.
The reunion was arranged by the great great grandson of Valiveti Venkatappaiah, Desu Uma Maheswar under the supervision of his mother, great grand daughter of Sri Valiveti Venkatappaiah garu
.
Uma Desu explained that it took 6 months of effort to collect all family details, photos and build a database & present it to the families. The meeting was the brainchild of Uma Desu’s mother, Desu Vijayalakshmi, her sister Alivelu and their aunt, Rajeswari. They also honoured the elders in the 3rd generation and paid tributes to the dead in all generations. Gathering such a database is exceptional research work painstakingly done by Uma Desu, who incidentally is the first certified competitive intelligence professional in the country.
The youngest member in the event belonged to the 7th generation while the oldest belonged to the 4th generation. So 5 generations met under 1 Umbrella.
In these days, where it is so hard to even expect a few people to gather together for a marriage, so many coming only to find their roots & meet with other families was truly exceptional. Many families had not met each other in 20-30 years. Hence it was homecoming for many.
The Longest Surviving member in the Family is Sri Konjeti Radhakrishna Murthy at 85 years while the youngest member, Vanama Vaishnavi was 1 Year old.
One needs to also appreciate the response received for this gathering. They came from all over the state, hyderabad, karimnagar, jagtial and even bengaluru. Vijayawada was chosen because of its central location. Ibrahimpatnam was chosen to reduce the distance of those coming in from hyderabad who were making the longest journey.
